Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Belmont Abbey was built in 1876, with a deliberate Gothic Revival architectural style. Today approximately 20 monks reside in the abbey and follow the teachings of Saint Benedict; visitors are welcome at masses and times of prayer. In addition to walking around the historic abbey, visitors can attend lectures and concerts hosted by different college and religious groups. The Abbey resides on the grounds of the 700-acre Belmont Abbey College, a small four-year liberal arts school.
